Welcome to Hyundai Korean Restaurant, a culinary haven nestled in the heart of Leavenworth, Kansas, at 749 Shawnee St. This hidden gem has quickly made a name for itself among locals and travelers alike, capturing their taste buds with authentic Korean flavors and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in the comforting ambiance of a mom-and-pop operation that radiates genuine hospitality. Customers rave about their experiences; for instance, one traveler, Darren Blake, praised the Beef Bulgogi for its generous portions and impeccable marination, devoid of any unappetizing bits. His experience illustrates the restaurant’s commitment to quality, setting a high bar for their dishes that leave diners eager to return.
Other customers echo Blake's sentiments, highlighting the Bibimbap served in a hot pot and the stellar service during take-out orders. David White, who often indulges in Korean cuisine, commended the freshness of ingredients and the careful attention to detail, stating that his experience was unmatched—certainly a rare find for any food enthusiast.
The charm of Hyundai goes beyond just the meals. It's truly a holistic experience. Perhaps unexpectedly, they host a small Korean grocery store at the back, allowing patrons to take home a taste of Korea. Whether it’s spicy chips, instant noodles, or even beauty products, the market is a treasure trove, making your visit feel like a delightful exploration.
On any given visit, you're likely to encounter dishes that evoke nostalgia and comfort. I travel a lot for work and always try to find a good Korean restaurant where I stay. About half the time I am disappointed. This was not one of those. I ordered the Beef Bulgogi and it was a large helping, was very well marinated, and didn't have any of the gristle bits or other un-appetizing elements. Probably as good a dish as I've had anywhere. Of course, it came with the usual side dishes which were uniform and good. Next time I come to town I'll try the spicy pork bulgogi. I have high expectations from here on out.
Went there with my son to pick-up a large take-out order. The staff was friendly and helpful and took great care with our order (double checking to make sure it was right). The food was delicious, not greasy and the ingredients were very fresh. As someone who has been to Korea before multiple times over the years, and loves their cuisine, I can honestly say that this was a great experience.
Went for lunch on my 1st visit and I was very impressed with the food and service. I had the hot pot bibimbap. It was excellent! I highly recommend stopping in if you are looking for a great Korean meal.
Food was really good! There is also a small Korean grocery store in the back, too. They are open on Saturday until 4PM.
A Hidden Gem with Mom-Vibes, Beef & Bop, and... Blankets?! Listen. I came here for dinner. I left with a full belly, a plan to return, and possibly a new addiction to Korean pantry snacks. This place is that good. We ordered the hot bowl beef and bop, and let me tell you—if comfort food had a Korean grandma, this would be her specialty. Perfectly seasoned, sizzling, soul-warming. Every bite was like a hug from someone who knows you’ve had a long week. Then came the cream pancake... soft, sweet, creamy magic. I still don’t know what’s in it, but I’d like to sign a legally binding agreement to eat one weekly. The service? So kind. So attentive. Like I accidentally wandered into someone’s living room and they decided to feed me because I looked hungry. It’s a true mom-and-pop operation, and it shows—in the best way. Decor? Okay, we’re not talking Michelin ambiance here, but honestly, who cares? The food does all the heavy lifting. It’s fresh, authentic, and made with love. What more do you need? Bonus plot twist: there’s a little Korean market in the back of the restaurant. You heard me right. Like a secret passage to a world of spicy chips, instant noodles, beauty products, and a suspiciously cozy-looking blanket I am definitely coming back for. Plus, their freezer section has hard-to-find Asian goodies that would normally require a long trek to a giant international market. TL;DR: Come for the food. Stay for the vibes. Leave with snacks. Possibly a blanket. 100% will be back. Probably too often.
I love this place. Food is so good. Unique flavors you must try if you've never had Korean. They also have a store attached with some cool stuff. Definitely a must.
Delicious authentic Korean food. I LOVE the Hot Dolsot Bibimbap and the beef Kimbap! The Beef Bulgogi is amazing too. I love the little dishes of kimchi that come with the Bibimbap too. The atmosphere is calm and cozy and the service is great too!
The food was excellent and very close to the same dishes you would receive in Korea. Include take out pictures. The staff is wonderful
